Are you the next Michelangelo?

On a recent trip to Italy, I had a tour guide in Como who started an open discussion about what differentiates the artists who were known in their time and the artists we continue to talk about centuries later.

If you’ve been to Europe, you don’t have to walk very long to see the majestic details of architecture and art and notice the history of the generations before us. Some we walk by without even noticing and some are pieces we seek in order to see the master’s craft.

As we explored, the tour guide looked at me, paused, and said the reason people like Michelangelo are so successful is because they had incredible marketing and branding like you teach. They developed notable names through connections, relationships, challenging themselves, promotion, and leaving their comfort level to put their name in lights and on people’s tongues. This inspired me in a huge way.

Today, we have the possibilities of social media, of our own websites, and other easy tools that allow us to shine our “brand light” in any market to reach those who are looking for us. But the power of being known, the power of profitability and opportunities truly come to those who seek it online and offline.

Thinking about friends, partners, and clients today who are making a “name” for themselves — they have these things in common:

  • Are adaptable yet take leadership

  • Invest in relationships

  • Say yes to only the right clients

  • Have minimums $$$

  • Stay front of mind but not overshare

  • Dedicate time to develop and push themselves

  • Have a niche and expertise

  • Explore new opportunities

  • Let time prove their talent

Today, I want to challenge you to think about how you can be a Michelangelo in your community or in our world. Are you allowing time to shine your brand lighthouse for people to see? Leaving a stamp of uniqueness on the world?! Are you working in your community? Helping those who need you & finding empowerment in that?

Whatever that may be for you, you are capable of huge impact and worthy of sharing your story. Put plainly, your not going to reach your potential if you don’t put yourself out there — so own your unique craft and perspective & get out there!!
